Acer Extensa EX2540-58KR (NX.EFHEK.002) Review

  • Performance: Laptops of this range generally feature the Celeron processor which is low in power, but this notebook comes with an Intel Core i3 processor. Combined with the Intel processor is the 4 GB RAM, which is expandable, and 500 GB of HDD, which all in combination performs decently for low-level tasks as net surfing or video streaming, but is not meant for tasks higher than that.
  • Ports: The notebook has an adequate number of ports-3 USB Ports, out of which 2 are the slower 2.0 versions, an Ethernet port and a separate port of HDMI.
  • Cooling: The cooling system of this laptop performs decent, not letting the temperature even touch 35 degrees or sound reach 35dB. The highest recorded on this notebook has been 33°C and 34dB.

  • Price: The Acer Extensa EX2540-33WP (NX.EFHEK.003) is marked at £390, which is on the higher side when compared to its contemporaries in the category of budget laptops.
  • Display: This notebook features a 15.6 inch HD screen but fails to impress with its quality. The screen lacks brightness; the color reproduction capability and the contrast ratio are below average, making it not even a decent experience for multimedia viewing.
  • Battery backup: The battery backup though not that bad, but it does not cross the mark of being decent. The 4-cell 48 Wh battery pack just manages to provide 6 hours of backup, while doing low-level operational work like net surfing, that too in medium brightness.

The Extensa EX2540-33WP (NX.EFHEK.003) has to face plenty of competition in this section with the contenders like the Lenovo B50-50, HP 250 G5 and the Swift 1 from the very Acer itself. As stated above, it does not make a powerful notebook but is capable enough to satisfy regular user needs.
